A photo a day – waiting

Today’s image is of the inside of Lewisham Hospital. We – Karen and I – had gone their for a review of her shoulder surgery and she was signed off.

But that’s only part of the story. Getting parked was difficult; all the disabled bays were taken and when I did find an end bay the kerb obstructed my wheelchair. After we parked we presented ourselves and were told the doctor was running 20 minutes late so we meandered around while waiting. It seems like these places are full of people waiting… and that’s why I took this shot. It’s the opposite of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s decisive moment as I could have taken it at 10am or 4pm I could have shot it in various waiting areas on any weekday.

Anyway we finally saw the doctor 1 hour and 10 minutes after our appointed time and spent 4 minutes with him before Karen was signed off.
