A photo a day – pills – part of my daily routine

As the title suggests, pills are part of my daily routine. This little lot consists of: Warfarin to thin my blood, Omeprazole to reduce acid reflux, Atenolol to regulate and slow my heart beat and Iron to counter anaemia from my recent bleed. I’ve placed them on my torso and this references  the cause of the need to take this medication. In 2003 I had a few heart attacks and had my aortic valve replaced with a mechanical one. You can just see the bottom of my chest scar at the top centre of the frame and the scars by the pills where drain tubes and other matter was stitched up to me.

Our bodies offer much narrative information about our lives just as this photo offers a narrative about one episode in my life. I’ve focused in on a small area as the image doesn’t need contextual information about the room I’m in or anything else really. Nor does it need any overt manipulation. It’s a realistic image as a window to the referent rather than anything else.
