It’s strange how values change. This photo of some of the weekly shop is of little social value now as the items are readily available and known. However imagine that we were looking at this one hundred or two hundred years from now? Think what such a scene would have looked like in 1914 or 1814? Social anthropologists could have a field day.
Two thoughts:
1) Would the anthropologists know that the image is fully staged and I had make explicit decisions about what foods and items to include and exclude? Probably not.
2) We change, meanings and values change but photos don’t.
