How would you describe these two images? Realist, formalist, expressionist? Are the images landscapes, documentary or vernacular? Of course each photo holds some of each of those qualities but if you had to label them each what would that label be?
I think we need language and labels to communicate effectively about what we are talking about but in doing so we gradually distort and so lose some of the qualities these photos offer. Would you agree?
