A photo a day – the general and the particular

We travelled to Littlehampton today but rather than show any number of generic images of the English seaside I chose to show one particular to that place.

This windbreak seating area is new to the place and I rather like it. The photo evoked memories of Princess Diana sitting alone in front of the Taj Mahal, India (link).

I like things that are particular to place. Too many times I travel to locations and high streets that could be anywhere in my country – the slow march toward uniformity removes difference and diversity and so we lose the opportunity to explore other’s histories and reasons for being as they are. So bravo Littlehampton for being different.
