A photo a day – a grand cityscape

If you thought yesterday’s image of my nan’s house a little mundane then today’s image might be more to your taste. The problem I have with it is that its not very personal to me.

The image offers a similar narrative as yesterday’s photo. That is if you know the London skyline you will be able to see how it is different from just a couple of years ago with the “Cheese grater” obscuring the “Gerkin” and being taller than the Nat West tower and the “Walkie Talkie” being a new addition to the right of frame.

Yet it is rather a pedestrian image offering not much in terms of discourse or spectacle. It does however have a painterly quality and it was for that reason that I processed it to look a bit like a faux faded painting.

Personal to others though – I was on that ‘beach’ last summer with several kids, mine included, who were scamming the tourists to give them cash (by throwing it down) for their sand art… (they were in the company of master sand castle builders doing the same!). I took a picture from one of the piers in your picture… yes it has changed since then! https://www.flickr.com/photos/tanya10128/14912467536/
