A photo a day – perspective

Another Sunday and another photo needed. But what should it be? I considered this as I went to get my paper and then had an idea…. I shot this view sharp with a deep depth of field and than played with it in Elements to make a tiltshift image.

Unfortunately there were few people around and it isn’t as effective as it could be. For example this image below was taken at the London Paralympics and is better because of its height, point of view and people within the frame.

The effect can appear a bit gimmicky and wearing after a while. It can be used to very good effect in particular situations though. For example, Vincent Laforet uses it to great effect at things like horse racing meetings or aerial views of housing estates, see here.
