Information is good – but engagement is better

One of the benefits of the web is access to so much information. But this is also a drawback: selection and tools for selecting information have become critical and one of the big benefits of working within a wider organisational framework is just that – it provides a framework and some very useful tools for searching and access to information by already having filtered some.  So for example access to the University Library and other art related resources are key as are other students blogs.

But when movement is difficult the ability to engage rather than just consume comes into its own with online communities of interest. Such levels of engagement would not have been possible for me even 20 years ago.
