The power of digital (and backing up data)

I’ve been having lots of problems with my new computer lately. The machine would crash and then fail to boot up. This culminated in my reinstalling Windows 8.1 yesterday, which in itself required my reinstalling all the additional software I used (Lightroom, Office, Elements, Windows Life Writer etc).

Well today began in exactly the same way. The PC failed to boot. The only difference was that I couldn’t get past this. For some (apparently daft) reason the person who configured the machine gave access to the BIOS setting a password and failed to tell me what it is.

The only good things are: that I have another PC and back up all of my work daily so I haven’t lost anything apart from two hours trying to get the Windows 8 machine to boot and then reconnecting my old PC to all its peripherals and updating its settings.

I did lose some work. I had worked on a post about Project 8 in Windows Live Writer that was in draft form and so stuck on the damaged PC but given that I work digitally all my photos and documents are as original and that couldn’t have been the case pre digital could it.

So while I am annoyed the PC failed I am very very happy that its digital and so accessible on this PC.
