Emily Allchurch: a little research before the symposium

So we have Emily Allchurch  giving a presentation of her work at next week’s symposium so I thought I would explore her work to orientate myself to it before then.

Headline thoughts:

  • She has a long CV
  • Born in England in 1974
  • classic painterly style of photography that references the Old Masters through collage

The style is an interesting one. In most cases her titles give the inspirational reference she is making and she outlines her approach here.

So there seems lots of relevance to my work. We share the same medium and she taking a new slant on an historical visual coda. I wonder if she sees her work as political?
