I found a really interesting video here that shows and explores impaired bodies as they move. The video was created using motion capture and 3D animation and really allows the viewer to see the essence of the movements and the uniqueness of each person’s physicality.
The work was created by Simon Mckeown, Reader in Animation and Post Production at Teesside University. For me it made a point about the singularity and individuality of our movements and in that sense relates most closely to my work on symbols where I took this photo of me and then created a personalised wheelchair users symbols out of it.
In both the video and the stills the personality in terms of physical features has been removed and yet the video and image keep an individuality: one by movement and the other by shape.
A fascnating video Pete.
