This is a formal portrait of Granddad Dunbar. It was printed on a postcard sized print but with no information. However I know it was taken before May 1919 when he retired from the Royal Scots, after some 23 years service, and his arm shows that holds the appointment of Pipe Major along with his long service stripes. He’d have been aged about 41 in this photo. T0morrow you will see him some 40 years later on….(still playing has pipes though).
