I graduated today, with a first class BA Hons degree in Photography. So this posed a challenge of how to represent that fact.
Of course I had a formal portrait and I also took some shots of the administration of the day like this below showing people queuing for photos. But, in truth the day was less about the administration and more about marking – celebrating – a point in time. I think the above photo does that. My outline is clear and so notes scholarship, the Southbank venue is obvious and those factors along with Karen by my side make this my image of the day. Yet the image is dark and represents the fact that a lots of little moments (here and then gone) during the day my thoughts turned to mum having her consultation about what type of treatment she’d receive for her cancer.
The photo was taken with us looking into the glass lift when the red counterbalancing weights were blocking the view. This enabled a clearer reflection.
I met Gareth – the leader of the OCA – and Rob TM and Rob Birrell – so I’ve gone from not meeting any fellow students in person to three in one week!
Congratulations Pete! Hope to meet you in Sheffield, I guess you’ll be there for the opening

Congratulations, Pete; I’m also planning to be at the opening, so your student head-count is in danger of rocketing! All the best!

That’s great Stan – it really is quite strange meeting people in person after such a long time and when you know some people quite well from discussions on Flickr.
