By 1916 Granddad Dunbar had been in the Royal Scots for 20 years and was their Pipe Major. He’d seen service in the two Boar Wars (Cape Colony) and Belfast and spent most of the First World War in France (from August 10th 1914 until April 4th 1919 with just one 5 month break at the end of 1914 and the beginning of 1915.)
