A photo a day – light and darkness

Spring has sprung and the first good look at the back garden does no go well. Tufty grass and lots of worm castes mean the lawn is in need of some loving care, but its nice to see some colour in the sky and the garden.

Gregory Crewdson used window frames quite a lot in his early work but often invested them with an eerie quality through the use of light values. There is nothing intentionally unstable or eerie in this photo yet the darker grey kitchen works well as a metaphor for winter giving way to the new brighter season.
