This scene shows a little of Alex’s washing on the side table and some of his freshly ironed shirts hanging on my work room door handle. The scene evokes a number of things for me: the shapes in the scene; my working past when each week when five formal shirts were cleaned rather than the Polo shirts worn now.
Most of the time the changes in our lives are so incremental we don’t notice them. It’s not until we see an older photo that the change becomes more obvious. But then there are the very big changes that are often marked by the memento photo – marriage, house move, holiday and qualification all come to mind.
I chose a very neutral monochrome treatment so that the shapes of the subject matter was emphasised without being dramatic. This meant that the darker areas were lightened and so carry quite a bit of noise. So how many of you have a photo of your landing? Why not take one and post it now?
haven’t got one!
